Redgranite Library welcomed the return of Mark Moran, Antiques Roadshow and vetted appraiser on March 14. Liveauctioneers.com aided Mark’s research of rare, curious and sentimental local treasures
A small sample of items and values were brought to the library for evaluation. Some of these treasures included an Andrew Jackson plate from 1820, which was purchased for 25 cents at a rummage sale (valued at $700), a pre- Iron Age Stone axe head ($200-$300), Pierrot Art deco figurine ($1000), Stroh’s beer Stein ($35), an Oshkosh fire lithograph, door knocker belonging to Liberace’s piano teacher, vintage weathervane with spaniel topper, Swedish copper pan collection ($400), Kodak trade premium pictures ($100/ea), a Shirley Temple composition doll ($150).
There were also priceless historic documents brought in for evaluation. A three-page Thomas Edison letter from 1886 and a Practical conversion workbook from the early 1800’s were among the collection.
The background stories added to the entertaining session. The Friends of the Library appreciate community members for attending and sharing your heirlooms. They also would like to thank Mr. Moran for contributing a portion of his fee to support the library.
