Stan Sikorski Memorial shares the passion of golfing

Posted

High School sophomores Elijah Sowma and Colton Buechner have been selected from the Wautoma/Wild Rose High School Golf Team to receive a summer pass of golfing at Waushara Country Club. Students are chosen by the Sikorksi Family, coaches, and the Athletic Director, based on the combination of academics, character, and qualities of a golf team member.
This award was created in honor of Stan Sikorski, a frequent golfer at the Waushara Country Club. Stan was a member of Waushara CC from 1989-2003 and 2008-2022. During this time, Stan was very active at the club, and frequently donated boxes of gently used golf balls, equipment and golf shoes to the golf team. For many years, Stan’s best golf buddy, Jerry Sipple and Stan were ranked #1 and #2 at WCC for the most rounds golfed in each season – often over 160 rounds each.
At age 79, Stan hit a Hole-In-One on September 25, 1999, on Lakeview Hole 7. With a nine wood, the ball flew 135 yards directly into the hole. Stan golfed his last rounds during the 2021 season at age 91 and passed away at age 93 in November, 2023.
His legacy is now shared year after year with young local golfers.
