Lawrence Ziaya, age 77, of Hancock, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Willow Brook Assisted Living.
He was born August 2, 1949, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the son of Andrew and Esther (Rybarczyk) Ziaya. Lawrence grew up in the Stevens Point area and attended Stevens Point Area High School. He married Loretta A. Divine on February 21, 1971. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2020.
Lawrence spent many years working in the trucking industry as an over-the-road truck driver for Steinberg Homes. He later owned and operated the Hancock Bait Shop.
An outdoorsman at heart, Lawrence enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Lawrence is survived by his two children; Steven (Tina) Ziaya and Melissa Ziaya; his five grandchildren, Max and Ethan Schoenstene and Kimmy, Taylor, and Travis Ziaya; one brother, Ray (Dawn) Ziaya; two sisters, Linda Taubitz and Patricia (Donald) Schroeder; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Andrew, Richard, and Jerome; and his sister, Kathy.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Larry will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Hancock Cemetery.
