The Tri-County School Board heard input and voted on a co-op football team with Almond-Bancroft during its regular meeting on Sept. 22.
There were mixed opinions among community members on the possibility of combining the Tri-County and Almond-Bancroft football teams beginning in the 2028 season. Sean Kemnetz, Spuds youth football coach, spoke on the success of schools with combined co-op teams. Treven Scluscezki also referenced the success of the Spuds program while speaking in favor of the co-op.
The motion to approve the co-op football with Almond-Bancroft was passed by just one vote, with four board members in favor and three opposed. The co-op will not be in place until the fall of 2028.
The board also discussed a possible co-op with area schools for health insurance as a way to save money. M3 Insurance will be putting together the data to see if it would be worthwhile for TC, with no cost to the district. The board approved joining the research group to explore health insurance co-operative impacts.
District Administrator Jamie Delikowski presented the board with preliminary data from the third Friday count, with approximately 560 and 507 present in the building. Students who had previously enrolled out of the district have been starting to re-enroll due to the LIFT scholarship opportunities and Tech Ed updates. The third Friday in September is used by the Wisconsin Department of Education to determine state funding and general aid for public school districts.
