Wild Rose travels to playoffs for the first time in nine years

Posted

It’s been a nine-year wait since the Wild Rose Wildcats last trip to the WIAA playoffs. The team persevered this season for the chance take on the Belmont Braves on Oct. 17.
The game kicked off with Belmont in possession of the ball on the Wild Rose 48-yard line. After a 34 yard pass, the Braves would score the first touchdown of the night. The Wildcats would eventually score late into the first quarter, with an 85-yard kick return by Ben Olson. This would be the only Wild Rose touchdown of the first half, with the Wildcats going into halftime with a 6-54 deficit.
The second half started with Wildcat possession, but that the Braves would eventually regain control after Wild Rose turned over possession over on downs. The final chance for a Wildcat touchdown would come in the fourth quarter of action, with a 42-yard pass from Braxton Landwehr to Olson.
The Wildcats would fall, 12-62, closing out their 2026 football season. The team’s season wraps up with a 4-6 overall record and 2-5 in the conference.
