Waushara County Land Conservation & Zoning offering scholarships  for 2026 Youth Conservation Camps

Waushara County Land Conservation & Zoning is offering two student scholarships for local  youth to attend Wisconsin summer conservation camps in 2026. One $200 scholarship will be  awarded to a middle school student, and one $350 scholarship will be awarded to a high school  student to help cover registration costs. 

Students interested in applying must submit an essay explaining why they would like to attend  Conservation Camp. Essays are due April 17 and should be emailed to  beth.schwanke@wausharacountywi.gov. 

These camps provide hands-on outdoor learning experiences including conservation projects,  forestry and wildlife biology, archery, lake research, hiking, canoeing, fishing, and more.  Participants gain valuable knowledge about natural resources while building friendships and  enjoying Wisconsin’s outdoors. 

Middle School Camp (Grades 6–8) 

The Wisconsin Land & Water Conservation Camp for middle school youth will be held  June 28 – July 1, 2026 at Camp Lakotah in Wautoma.  

  • Registration deadline: May 15, 2026 
  • Cost: $350 (includes meals, lodging, t-shirt, and all activities) 
  • Note: Fees are non-refundable after May 15. 

High School Camp (Grades 9–12, age 17 or younger) 

The high school camp will be held June 15 – 18, 2026 at the North Lakeland Discovery Center in Manitowish Waters. 

  • Registration deadline: May 15, 2026 
  • Cost: $450 (includes meals, lodging, t-shirt, and all activities) 
  • Note: Fees are non-refundable after May 15.
