At the May 19 Redgranite Village Board meeting, Public Works Lead Jim Fredrich told the board that the pickleball court in Willow Creek Park will be open to the public on June 2. He told the board that three layers of coating are on it and that the topsoil and seeding will be completed soon. He said that the fencing is partially installed, but will also be completed soon. A sign will also be installed that prohibits the public from skating or roller-blading on the surface.
As a “thank you” to those who donated funds to build the pickleball court, a closed appreciation catered lunch at Willow Creek Park will be held on Sunday, June 1 at 10 a.m., with lunch at noon. The lunch is for those who donated to the pickleball court (over $54,000), Redgranite employees, and board members.
The board approved extending the hours at Veterans Park on Saturday, June 7, for a “movie night” in the shelter pavilion. The movie “IF” will begin at dusk. Admission is free, with free hot dogs, popcorn, and beverages. Families are allowed to bring in their coolers, but no alcohol is allowed. People are also encouraged to bring their own chairs and/or blankets.
Fredrich also reported that the library parking lot is closed for resurfacing and striping.
In other business, the board approved:
*Acting on parking issues on Pine River Street. Public Works Lead Jim Fredrich said that one side of the street is narrower than the other due to past installation of curb and gutter; thus, when cars are parked on both sides of the street, it is a hazard for any car traveling down the street as two cars cannot navigate the street at once. He said a plan will be put in place to have parking on only one side of the street, approximately from Franklin Street north to the bridge. From the stop lights to the Civic Center, cars will be allowed to park on both sides of the street.
*Increasing board approval amount for bills $1,000 and under no longer needing board approval in advance, and bills $2,500 and under only needing a signature from a board member.
*Dillon Gray’s board resignation letter and appointing Matt Hagar to the Redgranite Library Board, replacing Dillon Gray’s position. Village President Jim Erdmann asked that anyone interested in being a board member contact the village clerk.
*Closing a portion of the parking lot to the west of the fire station and Dearborn Street, east from the driveway to the village hall, to the southeast corner of the fire station from 6 a.m. to approximately 6 p.m. on Monday, June 2, for annual hose testing.
*An alarm system and issuance of employee ID cards. Police Chief Kyle Tarr added that all village employees will have ID cards issued to them when the system is in place.
*Payment of $3,200 from Family Equipment Sales, LLC for gravel for road repair at the mobile home park and Cottonville.
*The purchase of a 7-foot rototiller for the parks for $3,500.
*The invoice from Speedy Clean for $1,575 for televising the village sewer system.
*The Hunting Committee’s recommendation for Kevin Schmidt.
*The sign placement for the Amvets Memorial Day chicken BBQ.
*A temporary Class B Retailers License for Amvets Post 13, effective May 26 at Veterans Park from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
*Provisional Operator’s Licenses, effective May 20, 2025, through June 30, 2025, for Natasha Hintz (The Barracks) and Jordan Truesdale (Kwik Trip, Inc..)
The next regular Redgranite Village Board meeting will be held on Monday, June 16, at 6:30 p.m. at the municipal building.
