Posted

The Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) and the Rural Rembrandt Art Club of Wautoma are co-sponsoring a daylong art event at the Senior Center in Wautoma on Saturday, June 7.
In the morning, Travis Nygard, an award-winning Professor of Art History and Museum Studies at Ripon College, will share some of his own research from the ancient Maya site Yo’oko in Mexico including recognizing common symbols and hieroglyphs in his presentation Exploring Ancient Maya Art and Hieroglyphs. Participants can learn to write their names in hieroglyphs and interpret stelae.
In the afternoon, Travis will jury the art exhibit and critique the winners.
State Award winners will exhibit their work in Wausau and are eligible for monetary prizes. The event is open to the public from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Wautoma Senior Center, W8220 Cottonville Ave.
