Lady Pioneers lose by just 1-point to Lady Chiefs

Posted
The Westfield Pioneer Girls took on the Wisconsin Dells Lady Chiefs in a nail-biter game up to the last 6 seconds on Feb. 4.

Both teams had a huge crowd of supporters with the cheering that could probably be heard downtown. Pioneers were first on the scoreboard, but it became clear the Chiefs were in this game to win. Players were being exchanged on the court at the same speed of the passes. Both teams were evenly matched in coordination and press. First period ended for a Pioneer lead 18-13.

Second period saw no letup of energy from either team. Players were hitting the floor in steal attempts while the referee whistles were kept busy. The last 40 seconds had them tied at 37-37, looking to go into overtime. The Pioneers pulled ahead in the last 18 seconds 39-38 with the crowd going wild.

In the last 6 seconds of the game the Chiefs managed to get in one last basket for the win 39-40.

Haddie Showen put up most on the points on the board for the Lady Pioneers with 25 points.
