Nekoosa Lady Papermakers handed the Wautoma Lady Hornets softball team a 13-3 loss in five innings on May 5 at Bird Creek Park on Parents Night for SCC conference action.
Wautoma was able to have the advantage up 2-1 after the first inning with Alexis Swanke’s lead-off walk, Cami Nitz RBI double and Mariah Biech scoring Nitz on a sacrifice fly RBI. However, Nekoosa would add two runs in the second and third inning making it 5-2 to take control with the Hornets answering with one run in the bottom of the third inning to complete their score for the evening.
The Lady Papermakers five run fourth inning put the finishing touches on. Wautoma’s centerfielder Alexis Swanke provided some solid defense doubling up Nekoosa twice, one catch and throw to first base and the other to home for the outfield assist. The visiting Papermakers tallied a dozen hits to the Hornets four.
Wautoma’s Swanke (1x2, 3B, SB, BB, 2 runs), Nitz (1x2, 2 RBI’s, run, sac fly), Ella Rogall (1x2) and Chloe Inda (1x2) each had a hit. The Hornets starting pitcher Mariah Biech was dealt the loss.
Wautoma slips to 7-12 overall and 5-6 in SCC play.
