The Tri-County Lady Penguins hosted their neighboring conference opponents from Almond-Bancroft on May 6.
The Lady Eagles took an early lead, scoring 5 runs in the second inning. Almond secured the win in the third, adding 9 more runs. They scored again in the fourth, sealing a 15-0 sweep over the Lady Penguins.
Tri-County had one hit that got on the plate from Brianna Garcia. Garcia allowed 7 hitters while on the pitching mound, along with Zoey Baughman allowing 1.
Almond-Bancroft bats would see more action on the plate, with Lacie Bradley leading the team with 3 hits, 3 runs, and 2 RBIs. Other top scorers of the afternoon were Lexi Carlton, who scored 3 runs on 1 hit, followed by Aaliyah Newby with 2 runs and 1 hit, and Laney Carlton with 2 runs. The Lady Eagles had 10 total RBIs as a team.
Lexi Carlton also had an impressive showing at the pitcher’s mound, striking out 5 Lady Penguin runners.
This drops the Tri-County regular season record to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in the Central Wisconsin Conference (CWC). They will be hosting another conference game on Thursday, May 14, against Wild Rose at 4:30 p.m.
The Lady Eagles improve their record to 14-1 overall and remain undefeated at 9-0 in the CWC. They will host Bonduel on Friday, May 15, at 4:30 p.m.
