Dear editor,

I used to do all of my grocery shopping at one of our local stores. As I entered the store recently, I saw a nice display of many cantaloupe in a large box. A sign with the bold numerals “99 cents” was on the front of the box. I bought one. When I got home I was surprised to look at my receipt and see I was charged $1.49 for the melon.

"I Love a Parade"

I am writing today to respond to a letter in last week’s Argus, where concerns were expressed regarding the length of the parade in general, and the amount of talking done by the announcer in particular. Before responding, let me say that the Chamber and our new Executive Director did a great job getting entries for the parade. Parades are longer when more people want to participate. The parade also had delays so that American Flags, water, and popsicles could be distributed.

Simonson family 57th year reunion

Some of the descendants of the late Carl (Charles) and Inga Thompson Simonson met for the 57th year on July 14. This year the Mount Morris County Park was not used. It had been the choice place as the Simonson family once owned part of that property. With so few now attending, it was decided not to reserve it.
