Tri-County High School held the boys’ track invitational on May 1. The Wild Rose Wildcats took first with 102 points after 18 events.

Team rankings were: Wild Rose, 102; Princeton/Green Lake, 96; Iola-Scandinavia, 76; Wittenberg-Birnamwood, 73; Weyauwega-Fremont, 72; Tri-County, 64.50; Pittsville, 47; Amherst, 45; Almond-Bancroft, 39; Shiocton, 29.50; Necedah, 29; and Pacelli, 25.

Tri-County High School held the girls’ track invitational on May 1. The Wild Rose Ladycats took first with 164 points after 18 events.

Team rankings were: Wild Rose, 164; Wittenberg-Birnamwood, 113; Iola-Scandinavia, 78; Amherst, 68; Parcelli, 62; Tri-County, 54; Pittsville, 50.50; Weyauwega-Fremont, 48; Necedah, 28; Princeton/Green Lake, 19; Shiocton, 5; and Almond-Bancroft, .50.

 
Wildcats lose to Rosholt, 14-1 Print E-mail

The Wild Rose Wildcats were stung by the Rosholt Hornets for a 14-1 loss in a May 1 baseball matchup.

The visitors struck first with a run in the first inning of play. Two batters received walks while another reached on an error before Derek Check hit into a single. The hosts tied things up with their only run of the game in the bottom of the inning. One batter had walked, one reached on a fielder’s choice and another sacrificed.

Lady Hornets pick up two conference wins at home Print E-mail

On May 2, the Wautoma Hornet Softball team swept a double-header from the Mauston Lady Golden Eagles 8-7 and 6-1.

In the first game, Mauston had the lead the entire game and entered the 7th inning leading the Lady Hornets 7-4. Back-to-back hits by Bailee Belfeuil and Emma Lehr followed by an error, left Wautoma 2 runs behind.
