Larry R. Norton Print E-mail

Sept. 14, 1951-March 31, 2014

Larry. R Norton, Wild Rose, 62, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at his home after a long, brave battle with brain cancer. Larry was surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born Sept. 14, 1951 in Gurnee, IL, the son of Clifford and Alice (Gilles) Norton, he was one of 14 children. On Oct. 9, 1969 Larry married the love of his life and best friend, Cindy (Corbeil) Norton, in Milwauke. Larry and Cindy spent 43 loving years together until her passing on Nov. 7, 2012.

He was a loving and kind father to three girls. He was a thoughtful and compassionate father, husband and family member, always willing to help anyone out. Larry taught his daughters many things; he taught them to be responsible and giving, and showed them along with their mother that true love, commitment and compassion could build more than just a marriage, it built a beautiful legacy of memories their children will cherish for the rest of their lives.

In Larry’s healthier years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending every chance he could in the woods or on the water with his wife who also loved to hunt and fish. After his illness took over Larry became a huge Green Bay Packer fan, if it were up to him, they would play all year long he enjoyed the game so much. Larry was homebound the last 16 years of his life due to his brain cancer, but was lovingly cared for by his wife around the clock until her death, and then his daughters took over his care for the last 16 months. He will be deeply missed by his loving family.

Larry is survived by his three daughter: Tammy (Dan) Salaja, Wild Rose, Dawn (Tim) Wood, Wild Rose, Shelly (Andy) Dexter, Omro; Grandchildren: Danny (Andrea) Salaja, Neenah, Mandi Salaja, Wild Rose, Brandon Wood, Logan Wood, Orria Wood, Wild Rose, Noah Dexter, Haven Dexter, Omro; Great grandson: Riley Salaja, Neenah. He is also survived by his very special brother in-laws and sister in-laws, eight brothers, four sisters, as well as many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life: Cindy (Corbeil) Norton; his parents: Clifford and Alice (Gilles) Norton; father and mother in-law: Russell and Orria (Hickey) Corbeil; brother: Donald Norton; and brothers in-law: Herman Cruz and Billy Mims.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose. The visitation will be held on Thursday from Noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Wild Rose following the service on Thursday. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose assisted the family with arrangements.
