Emergency Medical Dispatch

For the last year and a half the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office has been using Emergency Medical Dispatching, or EMD.  This program has allowed the 911 Communication Officers to give first aid instructions while dispatching an ambulance to medicals calls.

Sheriff Jeffrey Nett believes that this has been a great improvement for the citizens and visitors of Waushara County. Before EMD, the 911 dispatchers could only take the call and send the ambulance and the fire department rescue units. They could not provide any instructions, but that all changed after each 911 dispatcher went through a 24-hour course on Emergency Medical Dispatching.
