Wautoma Hornets clinch a conference win over Nekoosa Papermakers

The Wautoma Hornets welcomed their conference opponents from Nekoosa for some mid-season baseball action on April 28.
Wautoma picked up an early lead, scoring 2 runs in the first inning. The Papermakers only scored in the fourth inning with 1 run, with the Hornets also adding one more of their own. Wautoma picked up 4 more runs throughout the rest of the game, securing the 7-1 win in seven innings.
As a team, Nekoosa managed to collect 4 hits and recorded 2 errors. The Hornets had 5 team total hits, with 0 errors.
Carson Rose led Hornet pitching efforts, striking out 11 Nekoosa batters and only allowing 1 run. Chase Caswell helped out on the mound by striking out 3 batters.
Jett Richard paced the Hornet batters with 3 runs and 2 hits. Rose also led the team on the mound with 1 run from 2 hits, and 2 RBIs.
The Hornets also hit the road on April 30 for a rematch in Nekoosa. There, they would take home another win over the Papermakers, scoring 5-1 in seven innings.
Wautoma’s record advances to 6-7-1 overall and 5-3 in the South Central Conference.
