The Westfield Pioneers welcomed the Necedah Cardinals to their court on Jan. 6 for an action-packed night of boys’ basketball action.
First on the board was the Westfield Pioneers who proceeded to steam roll the Necedah Cardinals. The younger Cardinals were constantly on defense. The Pioneers the press on throughout the game wearing the Cardinals down. The Pioneers were in total control by half-time 50-8.
The highlight of the game was a slam dunk by Pioneer #24 junior Austin Lyon. Lyon was the top scorer of the night, with 25 points on the board. Sam Berruecos added 18 points of his own, followed by Keegan Hockerman putting up 11 points. Owen Hendee scored 7 points and made 8 rebounds throughout the night. Treyton Roos, Drew Brakebush, and Colvin Adams each put up 3 points, while Isaiah Anason scored 2.
The Cardinals lost to the Pioneers with a final score of 72-21. This win improved the Pioneers overall record to 4-3 this season.
