Mural project becoming a piece of Waushara history

Posted

One day, I was looking at the empty spot on the County Cupboard building and thought about what I would put on the wall to finish the beautiful mural Anna Krueger did on the wall.

I wanted history that would tell a story. I remember the old businesses and buildings. They all have stories to tell.

I contacted Anna Krueger and shared my idea with her, and she liked it a lot.

So we put a plan together, and on the wall is going to be the Gristmill, which was where the BMO bank is. I remember the smell of the grain and the beautiful mill.

The other is Thompson Sheet Metal, which was my dad's and grandfather's business, which was located across from the library by the power company. Dad trained many people in the trade. But it was also the first Courthouse in Waushara County, then a teacher school, Thompson Sheet Metal, and then the County Cupboard started there.

So the history will be on the wall! Anna and I are having fun doing with this project. This is a whole new experience for me, and I have been having so much fun. We hope to have this done in a couple of weeks.

Watch for updates and enjoy.
