Local volunteer carries on her love for local libraries

Posted

Penny Hendrickson has had a love and passion for the local library all her life.
Her passion began at an early age when she served as president of the library club in school. That urge to participate in the library carried with her, and when Penny and her husband Paul moved to Wautoma 19 years ago, what was one of the first things she did? Visit the Wautoma Public Library to see if they were in need of volunteers. She has been a volunteer ever since.
She shared some insight on the book shop at the back of the library. Books are donated and are priced to sell. All proceeds from the shop go to Friends of the Library.
Overflow books go to other libraries as needed to make more room for new inventory. Funds generated in the shop support children’s programming, along with additional projects the library needs.
The book shop is currently in need of donations for the Friends of the Library Book Shop. The library accepts donations that are clean, dry, and in good condition. Please do not donate books in poor condition. No encyclopedias, college books, outdated computer or medical books, Reader’s Digest, cassette or VHS tapes, magazines over two years old, and National Geographic will be accepted, as they have no room for these items.
The always-evolving library is a fun and interesting place to learn and grow. Stop at the beautiful garden as you come to pick up or donate books.
