The Wautoma Hornet volleyball team gave its home crowd plenty to celebrate, putting together an outstanding 5-0 performance at its home tournament and showing why this team is gaining momentum as the season continues.
From the opening serve to the final point, the Hornets played with energy, confidence, and determination. Wautoma battled through five matches, consistently finding ways to make big plays and close out games when it mattered most.
One of the biggest highlights of the tournament was the offensive firepower from Madelyn Scharnhorst, who came out swinging and made an immediate impact. Scharnhorst recorded an impressive 30 kills, 9 blocks, and 1 assist, providing a powerful presence both at the net and throughout the court.
Right behind her was Faith Keller, who tallied 27 kills. Keller’s ability to put the ball away gave the Hornets another dangerous offensive weapon and kept opposing defenses on their heels.
Of course, big hitters don’t put up numbers without someone putting the ball in the perfect spot—and Wautoma’s setter Brynlee Vaughan was busy making it happen. Vaughan finished the tournament with an impressive 78 assists, directing the Hornet offense and keeping the attack moving throughout the day.
