The Lady Eagles hosted the Laona/Wabeno Lady Rebels on Jan. 16. The Lady Eagles were looking to recover after suffering a tough road loss to Wild Rose just two days before.
The game seemed to move at a slow pace as the Lady Eagles took the early lead and headed for the locker room at halftime with an 8 point lead. That proved to be just enough as the second half passed without either team gaining any real advantage on the other and The Lady Eagles eked out a 49-41 victory to stop their losing streak at one.
Mya Dernbach led the Lady Eagles in points for the evening, contributing 19 and Aaliyah Newby brought in 11 to contribute to the total. Junior forward Oakley Omernik dominated the boards for the evening, bringing down 15 rebounds.
The Lady Eagles play their next home game on Friday, Jan. 24 as they host the Tri-County Penguins for another varsity double-header. The boys team plays first this time at 5:45 p.m., followed by the Lady Eagles at 7:15 p.m.
