Lady Eagles fall to Pacelli 35-53

Posted
The Lady Eagles hosted the Pacelli Cardinals on Feb. 10 for what turned out to be their second matchup with the conference rival in less than a week. The Almond-Bancroft girls lost that first matchup in Stevens Point 38-50.

Both teams struggled to get on the scoreboard initially and the Lady Eagles even enjoyed a small lead in the early minutes of the game, but that wouldn’t last long.

While the Cardinals eventually found their footing on the offense, the Lady Eagles struggled to find open shots and scoring lanes all night. Drives for the basket were met with walls of red jerseys and lost basketballs, post openings were quickly collapsed on, and open opportunities on the perimeter were few and far between.

The girls from Pacelli demonstrated just why they lead the CW South conference with a tough defense that continuously provided scoring opportunities and kept the Lady Eagles off balance and out of rhythm.

The game ended with the home team trailing 35-53, dropping their conference record to 6-4.

Mya Dernbach led the Lady Eagles scoring efforts with 18 points.

Three Pacelli players scored in the double digits; Jaedyn Zdroik led the team with 12 and Haylee Cisewski and Ella Van Order each added 10.

You can catch the Lady Eagles at their last two home games of the season on Feb. 14 when they’ll host the Wild Rose Ladycats and Feb. 17 when they host the Loyal Greyhounds, both games start at 7 p.m.
