Coach Chris Bahr has been a dedicated member of the Wild Rose athletics program for 27 years, leading with passion and developing skills for both current and former student-athletes. This fall sports season, Coach Bahr was presented with the title of Central Wisconsin (South) Conference (CWC) Coach of the Year. His impact as a coach has been a valuable asset to the Wildcat community.
He has spent his career coaching multiple teams, including 26 years with Boys Track & Field, 10 years with Girls Track & Field, 14 years of wrestling, and his first year coaching volleyball this fall sports season.
When reflecting on his favorite aspects of coaching, it comes down to helping kids realize their full potential. Helping them achieve their goals and understanding the effort it takes to be successful is a valuable lesson athletes can take with them throughout their entire lives.
Bahr’s coaching techniques focus on helping his team improve a little every day. Equally important is focusing on each athlete’s individual growth, recognizing that their personal development ultimately strengthens the entire team over time. “The goal is to have fun while putting in the work,” quoted Bahr.
This volleyball season had its share of ups and downs, but Bahr reflected on a turning point in the season for the girls following their parents’ night. The Ladycats came out flat following a poor performance. The team did not let this deter their spirits; instead, they took it as a learning curve. Following that game, the Ladycats rallied together, with Coach Bahr seeing them improve and play well the rest of the season.
“I was definitely not expecting the award, but I appreciate it. I want to thank my assistant coach, Jasmine Miller and all of my athletes for helping us have a successful season,” stated Bahr, “The Ladycats played with great effort and attitude throughout the season. I really appreciated my team for making my coaching season fun and rewarding. We were fortunate to have two first-team all-conference award winners and one second-team athlete. All-Conference First Team- Lilly Luchini and Ella Tratz, and Second Team- Alyson Henschel.”
