Wildcats defeat Port Edwards, 41-33

What had been a very close basketball competition through most of the Feb. 9 matchup, the Wild Rose Wildcats managed to come out on top of the Port Edwards Blackhawks, 41-33, in boys’ basketball in the end.

“It was very, very proud of our kids,” said Wild Rose Head Coach Jim Komp. “It wasn’t always pretty, but out kids battled through some adversity and come out with the win. We ended their 31-game conference win streak –they were ranked number one in the state. This is something the kids will remember for the rest of their lives.”

Scoring was very slow in the first quarter of play as both teams worked the ball around until they could find opportunities to shoot. Then when they shot, nothing would fall through. Tanner Hudziak finally was able to get one to fall through for the hosts with 4:42 showing on the clock.
