Wautoma/Wild Rose boys cross country wins second at Portage

The Wautoma/Wild Rose boys cross country team took home 2nd place at the nine-school Portage Invitational on Sept. 26.

Division I school DeForest won the meet with 52 points, followed by Wautoma/Wild Rose’s 57; Portage, 67; Berlin, 83; Pardeeville, 167; Poynette, 167; Randolph/Cambria–Friesland, 175; Lodi, 191; and Columbus.

Out of 134 runners, Hayden Schwartzman led Wautoma/Wild Rose with a 5th place finish. Coming in after Schwartzman were: Caleb Williams, 9th; Kordell Woyak, 13th; Ashton Schwartzman, 15th; Creedon Abraham, 17th; Jordan Reilly, 25th; Matthew Kapral, 33rd; Lance Erdman, 35th; Cavan Williams, 42nd; Aiden Doherty, 60th; Garrik Kjentvet, 65th; Desmond Cronn, 66th, Jordan Daye, 77th; Corbin Francisco, 96th; Ryan Riley, 100th; Christian McGhee, 107th; Ashton Abraham, 112th; and Connor Ennis 127th.

The Wautoma/Wild Rose girls cross country team placed 7th out of 10 schools. DeForest also took first place in the girls race with 50 points, followed by Berlin, 78; Poynette, 88; Lodi, 103; Portage, 140; Edgewood, 145; Wautoma/Wild Rose, 146; Columbus, 159; with Randolph/Cambria Friesland and Pardeeville with incomplete teams.
