Tri-County competes at CWC tournament

The Tri-County Penguins traveled to Weyauwega-Fremont for the Central Wisconsin Conference wrestling tournament Feb. 7.

The Penguins took 10th place with 52.00 points in the tournament. Wittenberg-Birnamwood repeated as champions for the fourth year in a row with 220.50 points.

With several wrestlers out with injuries, the Penguins went into the tournament knowing they didn’t have a chance to win as a team with only five remaining wrestlers, but hoped wrestlers individually would do well.

Three of the five Penguins who competed at the conference tournament placed in the top five. Tyler Kramer placed 2nd and scored 18.00 team points in the 120 lb. weight division; Eric Buechner placed 5th and scored 10.00 team points in the 126 lb. weight division; Brandon Peckham placed 1st and scored 24.00 team points in the 138 lb. weight division.
