Almond-Bancroft junior Austin Bunders hits a jumper over three Tri-County defenders during the Eagles’ 70-34 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division 5 first round regional playoff victory over the Penguins. Bunders recorded 23 points in the game, including 5 shots from beyond the arc.

Eagles soar past Penguins, 70-34

With a packed gymnasium, the Almond-Bancroft Eagles hosted their neighbor rivals the Tri-County Penguins to open the first round of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division 5 Regional playoffs. With nine players recording points, the Eagles advanced to the second round with a 70-34 victory.

The first six points of the game came from Eagle Austin Bunders and Garret Yonke. A. Bunders scored the team’s first two points while Yonke added two consecutive baskets in the paint.

After a tough couple of trips down the court, Luke Marinack recorded the first two points for the Penguins. Dylan Bunders went on to score two free throws for the Eagles after being fouled by Marinack midway through the first quarter.
