The Wild Rose School Board approved a selection for a spring play during a Jan. 14 meeting.

Rick Abbot’s “But Why Bump Off Barnaby?” is the selection the directors proposed to the Board. The comedy-mystery to be performed in March will be comprised of six females and four males.

Two student teaching placements were also approved. Caroline Ogden will split her time with Kelly Belter’s Fourth Grade class and Cassie Huber’s Special Education. Madelyn Nelson will spend her time student teaching in Connie Riedasch’s Fifth Grade classroom.

After discussing placing enrollment caps for open enrollment, the Board approved placing caps on the special education classes, but none were recommended for the regular education classes.

A notice of educational options for children residing in the school district was viewed and approved.

A leave of absence request from Rhonda Bartel was considered and approved, with the understanding that she will need to quarantine for a number of days upon returning to the area.

A safety plan which had been in place was reviewed and approved without any changes needing to be made.

The current school year had been reviewed. It was suggested that facial masking will continue in the district, even if the mandate expires soon. The students and staff have been very cooperative in wearing them.

The 2020-21 school clubs and organizations were formally approved by the Board.

Mention of the Jan. 20-22 virtual WASB State Convention was made.

The next Board meeting will take place on: Jan. 28, if needed, Thursday, Feb. 11, and Thursday, March 11. The meetings have been starting at 7:30 p.m., but it was suggested that they could start at 7p.m. Discussion will take place on the time change at the next meeting.
