Two local Wautoma graduates were announced as recipients of the Edwin E. and Janet L. Bryant Foundation scholarship program.

Brenna Coron and Nicole Van each received the scholarship.

The Bryant Foundation scholarship program was created to assist former students of Stoughton High School and the high schools of all the Wisconsin communities where Nelson Industries, Inc. had a manufacturing presence.  In addition to Stoughton, those communities include: Neillsville, Black River Falls, Mineral Point, Viroqua, Bloomer, Wautoma, Arcadia, Muscoda and Montello.

The Bryant Foundation has chosen to include all Wisconsin communities where Nelson Industries, Inc. had manufacturing plant locations in addition to Stoughton, which was the corporate headquarters for the company until its sale in 1998.  Edwin E. Bryant, a benefactor of the Bryant Foundation, was founder, chairman and CEO of Nelson Industries, Inc. (then known as Nelson Muffler Corporation) until his death in 1972. Nelson Industries, Inc. continued to be a very successful company and the Bryant Foundation board wishes to acknowledge the importance of all the locations which helped in the company’s success by offering scholarships in these communities.
