Westfield Pioneers fall to Adams-Friendship

The Westfield Pioneers were unable to get ahead of the Adams-Friendship Green Devils during a Sept. 23 game at Westfield High School.

The first quarter got off to a slow start, when Westfield’s Kashton Kangas pass was intercepted and returned for an Adams-Friendship touchdown with 7:30 on the clock. Johnny Drankiewicz went on to complete a 14 yard touchdown run to get the Green Devils ahead 12-0. Westfield was finally able to score with 2:26 on the clock with a 1 yard touchdown pass from Kangas to Sam Berruescos. The Green Devils were quick to close the gap with an 85 yard kickoff return by Keyvon Holladay for another touchdown before the second quarter.

The Pioneers started the second quarter with a 26 yard touchdown pass from Kangas to Berruescos, along with a successful 2 point conversion. Westfield managed to close the gap 16-20 until a 56 yard touchdown run by Drankiewics and a good run by Livingston. Kangas was tackled and fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Adams-Friendship to be returned for a 50 yard touchdown. The Green Devils would go on to do the rest of the scoring in the second quarter.

 

No scoring was done in the second half, giving Adams-Friendship a 63-16 win.

Kangas completed 11 passes for 151 yards, including 2 touchdowns. Berruecos had received 3 for 55 yards. Westfield penalties were 5 for 40 yards.
