Wautoma/Wild Rose Harriers host the Wautoma Cross Country Invitational, compete at Westfield

On Sept. 20 the Wautoma/Wild Rose Cross Country teams hosted their own 12 school Wautoma Cross Country Invitational, held at the Lake Lucerne Camping and Retreat Center.

The team champion in the Girls Division was Hortonville, followed by Weyauwega-Fremont. The Hornet/Wildcat Girls placed third. Overall, out of 65 runners, Mya Bahr placed eighth, Laney Havlovitz 14th, Cali Havlovitz 15th, Madylyn Woyak 21st, Isybela Woyak 36th, Laura Babcock 41st, and Nya Taivalmaa 51st. In the Junior-Varsity Race, Lacey Vissers finished 8th and Morgan Steltenpohl.

In the Boys Division, the Wautoma/Wild Rose Boys placed seventh out of 12 schools with Portage winning the team title followed by Hortonville and Wisconsin Dells. Logan Erdman finished sixth out of 70 runners to lead the Hornet/Wildcat Harriers. Gage Steltenpohl finished 41st, James Howen 51st, Jay Michel 63rd, Brett Jones 64th, and Mason Heuer 66th.

The Hornet/Wildcat Harriers then moved on to compete at the 14 school Westfield Classic on Sept. 22.

In the Girls Varsity race, the Wautoma/Wild Rose girls were edged out by Berlin for the team title. Berlin scored 62 points, the Hornet/Wildcats 68. Mya Bahr placed sixth out of 64 runners to lead the Wautoma/Wild Rose runners. Cali Havlovitz finished 11th, Laney Havlovitz 14th, Madylyn Woyak 19th, Isybela Woyak 33rd, Nya Taivalmaa 37th, and Laura Babcock 43rd. In the Junior Varsity Race, Lacey Vissers finished fourth and Morgan Steltenpohl 7th.

In the Boys Division, the Wautoma/Wild Rose Boys placed 11th out of 14 schools with Bangor winning the team title, followed by Pardeeville. Logan Erdman finished 13th out of 74 runners to lead the Hornet/Wildcat Harriers. Gage Steltenpohl finished 42nd, James Howen 45ht, Brett Jones 66th, Jay Michel 69th, and Mason Heuer 73rd.

The next action for the Hornet/Wildcat Harriers took place on Sept. 26 at the Portage Invitational.
