Wautoma/Wild Rose Cross Country competes at Portage

On Sept. 27 the Wautoma/Wild Rose Cross Country teams competed at the 14 school Portage Invitational held at Wyona Park in Wyocena.

The Hornet/Wildcat Harriers boys placed 13th out of 14 teams. DeForest won the boys race followed by Appleton Xavier and Campbellsport. Logan Erdman finished 30th out of 90 runners to lead the Hornet/Wildcat Harriers. Elijah Williams finished 55th, Gage Steltenpohl 78th, James Howen 80th, Brett Jones 88th, and Jay Michel 89th. Mason Heuer finished 89th in the Junior Varsity Race.

The Hornet/Wildcat girls finished sixth out of 14 teams. Appleton Xavier won the team championship followed by DeForest and Waunakee. Laney Havlovitz was the top Wautoma/Wild Rose runner with a 20th place finish out of 92 runners. Cali Havlovitz finished 22nd, Madylyn Woyak 26th, Cali Havlovitz 42nd, Isybela Woyak 56th, Laura Babcock 62nd, and Nya Taivalmaa 64th. In the Junior Varsity Race, Lacey Vissers finished 39th and Morgan Steltenpohl 47th.

 

The Hornet/Wildcat Har-
riers will compete on Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Don Chasse Relays in Weyauwega and finish the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 13 at the South Central Conference Cross County Meet held at Nekoosa High School.
