Wautoma Softball shuts out the Lady Papermakers

The Wautoma Lady Hornet softball team would travel to the Nekoosa Lady Papermaker “Smell of Money” venue the next day after a home contest and win 7-0 on May 5. Liv Cieslik pitched five strong innings recording five K’s, two walks and two hits while Ava Butt closed the door striking out one and keeping them hitless. The Hornets opened the game scoring one run in the first which ultimately was the only run they needed on an Ava Stahl walk (SB), Brianna Buechner single and Sydney Dunn sacrifice fly scoring Stahl. Wautoma would add four more in the fourth inning on a Cieslik single, Braelynn Pica walk, Larissa Piechowski sacrifice RBI, Lyvia Weiss RBI single and Dunn RBI single to make it 5-0. The Hornets would add one more run in both the third and fourth innings to complete the 7-0 score. Wautoma connected for twelve hits with four players having multiple hits as Buechner (2x3, 2 runs, SB), Dunn (2x3, 2 RBI’s, SB), Piechowski (2x3, 2B, 2 RBI’s) and Weiss (2x4, RBI, run) led the way along with Stahl (1x3, 2 SB’s, run, BB), Butt (1x3, 2B, sac), Gunderson (1x4) and Cieslik (1x2, HBP, run) having one hit. The Hornet softball team improved to 11-7 overall and 6-2 in SCC conference play.
