Wautoma softball brings home win against Wisconsin Dells Lady Chiefs

Subhead
A huge fourth inning outpouring of six runs helped the Hornets down the Wisconsin Dells Chiefs 9-2 in SCC conference action on April 25 at the Dells High School field. Wautoma scored a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead off an Ava Stahl walk (SB) and Dells blunder. The Lady Hornets tacked on another run in the third when Stahl reached on an error (2 SB’s) and eventually scoring on a run down that only she can get out of to make it 2-0. Wautoma prevailed in the fourth as damage control took place all after two outs on eight consecutive hits (hitting is contagious) with a Liv Weiss single, Stahl RBI double, Brianna Buechner RBI single, Sydney Dunn RBI single, Ava Butt single, Liv Cieslik RBI bunt single and Bryn Gunderson RBI single to capture a 8-0 lead. Wautoma would add their final run in the sixth on a Butt single and Larissa Piechowski smashed RBI double with a hilarious ending to it. The Lady Chiefs brought two across in the sixth inning for their only runs on three hits and a walk. Wautoma’s hurlers Cieslik and Piechowski towed the rubber with Cieslik starting then closing. Liv surrendered no hits with four K’s and three free passes in 4 1/3 of work to pick up the win while middle relief, pitched 2 2/3 giving up four hits, two walks and two earned runs. Wautoma’s bats torched thirteen hits while Stahl (2x4, RBI, 5 SB’s, 3 runs), Butt (2x3, RBI, 2 runs), Cieslik (2x3, RBI, run), Weiss (2x4, run) led the attack with Dunn (RBI, SB, run), Buechner (2B, RBI) Piechowski (2B, RBI), Gunderson (RBI) and Pica each collecting a hit. Wautoma improves to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in SCC play.
