Ladycats take a loss against Manawa

The Wild Rose Ladycats hosted another five-game volleyball match on Oct. 5, which was played very well, but in the end, it was the Manawa Lady Wolves taking the match, winning three games to two.

Manawa got out to a 3-0 lead in the first game with consecutive serves from Jaden Jaeger. Wild Rose came back with a 6-3 lead with five consecutive serves from Lacy Hackney. The visitors retook the lead 7-6 with three consecutive serves from Kelsey Rosin. The score was tied six times after that as the teams battled. The game went down the wire, with the hosts obtaining a 24-20 lead until a sideout allowed Manawa to catch up, 24-23, with two service points from Aubrie Seeger. Another sideout ended up giving Wild Rose a 25-23 win.

Game two saw the Lady Wolves get off to a 7-1 lead with the help of a three-point service run from Rosin. Hackney brought the Ladycats back, 5-7, with a three-point service run. Olivia Eagan then put the hosts out front 9-8 with a three-point service run. The score was tied eight times after that as the battling continued. The visitors had a 24-21 lead before Wild Rose put a halt to a three-point service run by Seeger. A trading of sideouts gave Manawa a 25-22 win.

The Lady Wolves were able to grab a 4-0 lead in the third game with a four-point service run from Jaeger. Hackney helped the score at five for Wild Rose with two consecutive service points. The Ladycats tied it again at six, but it was hard for them to keep up for the rest of the game. It all came down to a four-point service run from Alexis Hedtke to finish the game 25-18 in favor of the visitors.

Game four saw Wild Rose grabbing a 4-0 lead behind four consecutive serves from Olivia Soper, and Orria Wood increased the lead by two, 7-1. Jaeger then caught Manawa up, 7-5, with three consecutive service points. The visitors went on to take an 11-9 lead with a four-point service run by Hedtke. The score ended up being tied seven times after that the visitors wanted to end the match with this game, and the hosts wanted to get to Game five. Soper gave Wild Rose a 24-21 advantage with two consecutive service points, but it was a sideout that gave the Ladycats a 25-22 game win, heading into a fifth game.

Manawa was off to a 6-1 lead behind serves from Amber Fietzer and Rosin. Wild Rose didn’t have much of an answer to the visitors in this game, slowly coming up with some kind of scoring. Seeger added a couple points to Manawa’s score while serving, and Soper was last to serve for Wild Rose. The Lady Wolves ended up winning the game and match 15-8 on a sideout.

Lacy Hackney came up with 11 service points and three service aces. Defensively she had 11 kills.

Elia Eggum recorded 19 assists, whle Leila Delrow recorded 26 digs.
