Ladycats score 13-3 regional victory May 23

Wild Rose Ladycats advanced in post season softball play after taking a 13-3 victory over the Tigerton Lady Tigers in regional action on May 23. Tigerton was held scoreless for most of the game, but picked up 2 walks and a sacrifice in the first inning of play, a double from E. Stench in the second, and a single from A. Swartz in the third. Wild Rose scored 3 runs in the first inning with singles from Cali Havlovitz, Abbie McCardell, and Addy Smykal, while one batter walked, one was hit by a pitch, and another sacrificed. Two more runs scored in the second for a 5-0 lead as C. Havlovitz doubled, Lilly Luchini singled, one batter walked, one reach on an error, and another sacrificed. The only action the hosts managed in the third inning was a triple by Riley Quick. The visitors were shut down in the fourth inning, while the hosts added a run for a 6-0 lead on singles from Keyva Kingston and McCardell. Two others reached base. The fifth inning was when the Lady Tigers got on the board with 2 runs on a single from Swartz, while 2 batters walked, one reached on an error, and another sacrificed. The Ladycats put more space between themselves and the visitors in their half of the inning with 5 runs, 11-2, with home runs from Laney Havlovitz and McCardell, a triple from Smykal, a double from C. Havlovitz, and a single from Zoe Bruning. Another batter also reached base. Tigerton had loaded the bases in the sixth inning with 2 walks, while a batter was hit by a pitch, and another reached on an error. A fly ball brought in a run for an 11-3 score before the side was retired. Wild Rose started its’ half of the inning with 2 walks. A stolen base and an error brought in a run, 12-3. McCardell soon drove in the winning run, by the 10-run rule, with a single, 13-3. Abbie McCardell had 4 hits for Wild Rose including a home run, and scored once. Cali Havlovitz had 3 hits, including 2 doubles, and scored 4 times, while Riley Quick had a triple. Laney Havlovitz struck out 6 Tigerton batters, and walked 6. Swartz had 2 hits for Tigerton, while E. Stench recorded a double. Wild Rose traveled to Pacelli on May 25 and lost to end the Ladycats’ season.
