The Westfield Lady Pioneers hosted their conference opponents, Wisconsin Dells Lady Chiefs, for a Jan. 13 girls’ basketball game. Westfield was able to lead the game to victory, 50-30.
Nadia Hoffa was able to put Westfield on the board first, shooting a 3-pointer in the first minutes of the game. The Lady Chiefs tied the score up a 9 points with 11 minutes left on the clock. Both teams kept the score close, with Westfield only keeping up with a 3-point lead. Carly Drew was able to put up a 3-pointer to help strengthen the Lady Pioneers lead to 19-13. Westfield got by with a 24-15 lead to end the first half of the game.
Lady Pioneer defense came alive in the second half to help the team get ahead of their opponent. Sidney Hoffa had a fast break to help her put up 2 points on the board to help increase the lead, 36-22 with 11:44 left in the game. The Lady Pioneers were able to hold onto more than a 10 point lead throughout the rest of the game. Another 3-pointer from Drew secured a 39-22 lead for Westfield. The Lady Pioneers carried this lead to the end for their 50-30 win.
Carly Drew was able to get 14 points on the board, including two 3-pointers and 4 of 6 free throws. Sidney Hoffa scored 13 points, while going 4 for 6 at the line. Haddie Showen had 12 points on the board and recorded 9 rebounds. Brandi Lentz had 7 points and Nadia Hoffa 5.
