Lady Hornet Softball defeats the Lady Tiger Sharks 16-3

Wautoma won 16-3 in 6 innings on April 10th versus the host Princeton-Green Lake Lady Tiger Sharks. The Lady Hornets opened the game up scoring one in the first on an Ava Stahl single and then swiping the base paths clean all the way to home making it 1-0. Princeton-Green Lake responded by tying the game with a run off a Swanke infield single and stolen base, followed up with a Hornet blunder. Wautoma would build a 5-1 cushion in the third inning thanks in part to a lead-off Larissa Piechowski single, Liv Weiss sac bunt, Stahl single, Brianna Buechner single, Sydney Dunn RBI single and Ava Butt 2-RBI double while eventually coming all the way home on an April snowball fight. The Lady Hornets added three more in the fourth creating an 8-1game on a Piechowski one-out single, Stahl intentional walk, Buechner 2-RBI single, Dunn reaching on an error scoring Buechner. Wautoma gathered another run in the fifth and then exploded for seven runs in the six inning compliments to Buechner walk, Dunn double, Butt walk, Natalie Perkins RBI by reaching on an error, Eva Thompson 2-RBI single, Gustke walk, Piechowski fielder’s choice RBI, Bella Smith walk, Stahl RBI 2B and Buechner once again RBI single for a 16-1game. Olivia Cieslik mastered the rubber giving up only one hit with no earned runs in five innings of work while striking out eight Tiger Sharks with two walks and two HBP’s. Piechowski closed the door giving up one earned run on a couple walks. Wautoma mashed for 16 team hits with Stahl (3x4, 3 SB’s, 2 runs, RBI, Int.BB), Buechner (3x4, 3 RBI’s, 3 runs, BB), Butt (2x4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 runs, BB), Bryn Gunderson (2x3, 2B, SB, run), Piechowski (3x4, 2 runs, RBI), Dunn (1x4, 2B, 2 RBI, BB, reached on error), Thompson (1x1, 2 RBI’s, run) and Bella Smith (1x2, run). The Lady Hornet Softball squad improved to 3-4 overall.
