Hornets split during last week’s games

The Hornets split last week beating Royal 5-0 and losing to Viroqua 5-1.

Kyler Fenske recorded his first no hit shutout of the season.  He was able to strike out nine Royal hitters and then rely on his defense to preserve his shutout.

The offense was led by Hunter Netzler going two for two and a triple. Big Brother and mentor, Damean Netzler went two for three, which also included a double and an RBI.  Sam Weiss crushed a triple, which also scored two runs and Kade Panich added a on for three performance as well.

The second game was a loss to Viroqua. Kade Panich took the loss, but held a very potent offense to five hits.

The offense wasn’t able to help Kade out much only connecting for two hits. Logan Johnson was one for two and Christian Weiss added a one for three performance and scored their only run.

The boys finished their regular season with a record of six wins and four losses.

The Hornets start tournament play against Royal on Tuesday, July 28, and on Wednesday they will play Adams Friendship and Tomah.

The finals will be played on Thursday, July 30.
