Resident appreciative of those who attended Neshkoro Scarecrow Festival

Neshkoro is Alive and Well and the Neshkoro Enhancement Committee wants to express its apprecia-tion for making the 6th annual Scarecrow Festival a success on Saturday, Oct. 10.

The scarecrows were enjoyed by young and old. It was hard to decide but over 400 votes were cast and these were the winners:

•1st place: Cedar Springs Lake Association (Minions)

•2nd place: Insight FS (The Gas Man)

•3rd place: Neshkoro Sen-iors (Golf Duffer at the 19th Hole)

•Kathy Fitzgerald (Elsie)

•Rosie Gulbronson (Jack & Jill)

•Cynthia Kraut (Chef Bob at the Renaissance Faire)

The only thing lacking from the event were entries in the youth division. Not one school made a scarecrow, and I think it would be a great project for the art department of every school and would give the kids an outlet from technology and use their creative skills. Home school children are also invited.

With the leaves turning color and temperatures in the high 60s God provided a perfect day and 130 families took a delightful hay wagon ride around town.

Our festival is always the second Saturday of October, so mark your calendar for Oct. 8, 2016. Applications are available at the Neshkoro Public Library and online at The more scarecrows, the more FUN!
