Hancock resident clarifies first Master Gardener Class

To the Editor:

In the June 5, 2002, Waushara Argus it was stated in the second paragraph about “Shar-a-Gardeners” (Class of 2000) that they were the first Master Gardeners Class in Waushara County. I wish to state that this is not true.

In April 1993, Chuck Kostrickka had a class with 28 registered people in it. It was held at the Hancock Agricultural Research Center. Our first class was on April 14, 1993.

Members came from Coloma, Hancock, Stevens Point, Plainfield, Nekoosa, Wisconsin Rapids, Friendship, Montello and Wild Rose. We learned a lot.

I applaud the work the Shar-a-Gardeners do, their gardens and plant sales are great.
