Roger William Fahey, a beloved resident of Pine River, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the age of 79.
He was born on December 7, 1943, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Richard and Gladys Fahey.
Roger was a remarkable individual with a deep appreciation for life, a profound love for animals, and a passion for speed. Roger had a special bond with animals, both pets and wildlife. He cherished their presence and displayed an unparalleled compassion for all creatures. His beloved Tennessee Walker horse, Big Red, held a unique place in his heart, and their time together brought immense joy and tranquility to Roger's life.
In addition to his love for animals, Roger had a fascination with fast cars featuring powerful engines. The thrill of the open road and the roar of the engines held a special place in his heart, and he relished every moment behind the wheel. Roger took immense pride in his education, having graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. The friendships and experiences he gained during his school years left a lasting impact on his life. He often reminisced fondly about those cherished memories.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Karen Fahey, who shared in the adventures and the quiet moments of their life together. His legacy continues through his sons, Mark (Rebecca) Fahey and Lance Fahey, who inherited their father's zest for life. His brother, Darryl (Karin) Fahey, provided unwavering support and shared a close bond with Roger. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Julie Fahey, and a host of grandchildren, including Brittany and Alex Fahey, as well as more grandchildren: Kristie (Rob) Slaasted, Sherryl (Jeff) Weger, Michelle Fahey (Brian). His great-grandchildren, Robert John, Landyn Paul, Tatem, and Adeliene, were a source of immense joy and pride in Roger's life. Roger is further survived by his church family at St. John’s.
Roger was preceded in death by his son, Paul, his parents, and his beloved former wife, Flo. He also mourned the loss of Betty Lace, Paul and Mark's mother, and a dear cousin, David Durnell. He was also preceded by his best high school buddy, Mike McNamee.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Saxeville, Wisconsin. A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00. Pastor Rick Engen will officiate.
Roger's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He touched many lives with his warmth, compassion, and love for life. His spirit will continue to inspire and bring joy to all who knew him.
