Robert N. Dopp, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 6 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, Illinois. He was born Tuesday, January 5, 1932 in Wild Rose, Wisconsin to parents, George M. and Pearl (Pierce) Dopp.  He was married to Marietta Cole.

Robert served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post #141 in Mount Vernon, Illinois where he served as past commander. He was a volunteer firefighter at Jefferson County Rural Fire Department and worked at Blankenship Auto Parts for several years.

He also served in the Mount Vernon City Auxiliary Police Force.

Robert is survived by his son, David Dopp and wife Rebecca of Valparaiso, IN; daughter, Deborah Suits of Ottawa, IL; grandchildren: Jennifer Noveroske, Jedidiah Dopp, Jeremiah Dopp, Hannah Suits, Rocky Suits, Hillary Suits and Robert Burnett; and several great-grandchildren.
His parents, a daughter: Barbara Burnett and a sister: Sylvia Paulette preceded him in death.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with David Dopp officiating. Chaplain Ernie Collins and members of the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct a Flag Presentation Ceremony during the service. Burial of Ashes will take place at Williams Chapel in Whittington, Illinois at a later date.

A Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the time of the service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
