Michael Wayne “Mike” Solamita, age 72, of Redgranite, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mike was born on April 10, 1948 to the late Joseph and Dolores (Krumbein) Solamita in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. After graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and held the rank of Specialist. He served one tour during the Vietnam War and was stationed out of Fort Lewis, Washington.

After the War, Mike returned to his home state where he was an independent cement finisher for over 30 years, where he worked with many local construction companies on both residential and commercial development. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and cook and enjoyed watching old Westerns. He was also a long-standing supporter of Ducks Unlimited and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mike is survived by his companion of 25 years, the “love of his life,” Ardythe Sheldon of Menasha, Wisconsin and his siblings Dick (Joan) Solamita of Fond du Lac, Kathy (Tom) Sell of North Fond du Lac and Laurie Solamita, of Isabella, Missouri.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dolores, and his sister Karen (Steve) Thresher of Prescott, Arizona.

In accordance with Mike’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.

He will be buried in the spring at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin with a grave side service officiated by the Honor Guard.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Milwaukee VA Medical Center for their compassionate care.
