Mark Elwyn Engel, age 73, of Poy Sippi, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah.
He was born August 28, 1950, at Berlin Memorial Hospital in Berlin, WI, the son of Daniel and Helen Brey Engel. Mark was a 1968 graduate of Berlin High School. On September 27, 1975, he was united in marriage to Roxane Nelsen at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. Mark worked at Radke’s Feed Mill, Daisy Dairy and Chapman’s Foundry in Berlin, before becoming a proud dairy farmer, partnering with his brother, Jim, in 1979. He used his talents to construct his brother’s barn, plus his own house and family farm. Mark enjoyed tinkering in his shop, cutting wood, welding, snowmobiling and watching NASCAR. He especially treasured time with his family at family gatherings and was strong in his faith. He was a member of Poy Sippi Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years and Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi.
He is survived by his wife, Roxane; one son, John (Jennifer) Engel; three daughters, Lyn (Scott) Stewart, Laura Engel and Jill Engel; four grandchildren, Andrew Engel, Rhiannon Elendt (significant other, Jacob), Timothy Elendt (significant other, Maddie) and Natalie Engel (significant other, Brodey); four great-grandchildren, Adrianna Braley-Engel, Dominic Engel, Lainey Kirchharr and Raegan Elendt; two sisters, Virginia Andersen (Ron) and Diane Rodencal; two brothers, Gordon (Jane) Engel and Jim Engel; his in-laws, Rochel Nelsen (significant other, Lenny), Aron Nelsen and Renee Nelsen and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; sister, May (Duane) Hannemann; niece, Beverly Hannemann Tusler; parents-in-law, John (Joyce) Nelsen; and brothers-in-law, Dudley Andersen, Butch Rodencal, John Nelsen II and Leroy Kettlewell.
Funeral Services were held Friday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m., at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, with Rev. Brian Weber officiating. Interment was in Brushville Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday, January 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi, and on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
