John Joseph Gauthier, age 84, of Milwaukee, WI died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Milwaukee Catholic Home in Milwaukee, WI surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on April 12, 1939; son of the late Albin and Aurelia (Schmit) Gauthier. John had a great interest for anything outdoors; especially hunting and fishing. He was very well traveled as he took hunting trips internationally, traveling worldwide and hunting in many different countries. He was a tire salesman; he opened up his own tire shop in Wautoma, WI in 1987 and called it Sand Country Tire Specialists. To his customers and vendors, he was known as Big John. John also loved the game of pool; and was a very talented singer. He sang karaoke, and participated in church choirs at several parishes for many years.
John married Karen Bosanec on September 19, 1959 in Racine, WI. She survives him to this day. John is also survived by his children; Cheryl (Mark) Bower, Michelle (Lorenzo) Cannon, Annette Snape, grandchildren; Michael, Trina, Tom, Katelyn, Robyn, MaryJo, Abby; 4 great-grandchildren; and brother; Gerald Gauthier.
John is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Mark Snape; sister; Jeanette (Les) Kohel; and sisterin-law; Cathy Gauthier.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1540 Mill Street, Lyons, WI 53148 on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will take place before Mass beginning at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Milwaukee Catholic Home, 2330 N. Prospect Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53211 or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1540 Mill Street, Lyons, WI.
