FRANK J. ROTHERMEL

Frank “Jerry” J. Rothermel, age 95, passed away Saturday evening, April 30, 2022 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King.

He was born May 14, 1926 in Kenosha, the son of Frank and Mildred (Starks) Rothermel.  He married Dorothy Freigang on June 25, 1948 in Plainfield.

Jerry was born into a family which owned a school bus transportation and trucking company, so during his teenage years he learned the importance of hard work. Those skills helped support his educational efforts and resulted in a lifelong appreciation of a good day’s hard work.

After graduation, he served his country in the United States Navy.  After his services in the military, Jerry commitment to his community led him to ongoing involvement in many civic and business organizations, including the Waushara Masonic Temple, Plainfield VFW, American Legion and serving on the Waushara County Board of Supervisors for several years.  He operated Jerry’s Bus Services of Plainfield, Rothermel Truck and Bus, International dealership and Schneider terminal. After he retired from owning & operating his own businesses, he also drove semi for Plainfield Trucking until the age of 89.  Jerry’s greatest enjoyments were serving his community and spending time with his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 74 years, Dorothy Rothermel; his three children, Michael (Cindy) Rothermel, Steve (Karen Kalata) Rothermel, Kelly (Lauri) Rothermel; his six grandchildren, Steven, Nicole, Tricia, Jeff, Amber, Preston. 11 Great grandchildren, one brother James (Mary) Rothermel, other relatives and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Jo Patterson his parents, and two sisters.

Memorial Services for Jerry were held May 9 at 1 p.m. in the Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield.  He was laid to rest in the Plainfield Cemetery with full military honors.  Visitation was held from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
