Dorothy Rose Horacek, age 77, of Hancock, passed away Sunday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2020 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Jan.14, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Herbert E. and Justine Uteg.

Dorothy was the life of the party and enjoyed being around people and making others laugh.  She had a contagious smile that would light up a room.  She had many hobbies such sewing, going to rummage sales and making porcelain dolls.  Her greatest love and enjoyment were her family and friends.

Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Dawn (Carmen) Horacek, Robert (Jackie) Horacek, and Jeff (Terri) Horacek; her grandchildren Kelly, Kristy, Adam, Kayla, Abby, Taylor, McKenna, Murphy and Dawson; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Callie, Roland, Jackson, Jonathan, Cassie, Nevaeh and Liam; her loving sister Corine Japczyk and her best friend Deb Gassett; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joan Lucas and her brothers Jimmy Uteg Sr. and Don Uteg. Her precious Penny is waiting for her to give her lots of puppy kisses.

A gathering to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield and a lunch to follow at the Hancock Community Center.  To share your online condo-
