Carole Ann Longworth, 77, of Wild Rose, WI, passed away on March 30, 2024, surrounded by her family after fighting a lengthy battle with kidney disease.
Carole was born on March 12, 1947, in Berlin, WI, to William and Louise Ziege. Growing up, she found joy in horseback riding and assisted in her family’s business, Berlin Frozen Foods. After graduating from Berlin High School, Carole pursued cosmetology and worked in the field for a number of years. She also explored other career paths, such as kitchen designing and serving as a teacher’s aide at Poy Sippi School in Poy Sippi, WI.
Carole’s true love was running her 80-acre hobby farm alongside her husband of 46 years, Gary, and their four daughters. They took pride in living within this place for more than thirty years. Together, they loved working outdoors, raising animals, baling hay, planting vegetable gardens, improving the farm buildings and restoring the farmhouse. Carole's expertise in gardening, encompassing both vegetables and ornamentals, became legendary as she planted hundreds of trees and perennial species over the years.
Beyond farming, Carole pursued various hobbies such as rug hooking, wool spinning, drawing, and painting, often amidst her beloved gardens and ponds. Her innate artistic flair infused everything she touched, reflecting her boundless creativity.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; children, Lisa (Mitchell) Lux of Appleton, WI, Michelle (Daniel Murach) Lawler of Madison, WI, Jennifer (David) Paramo of Montello, WI and Angela (Nicholas) Mork of White Bear Lake, MN; grandchildren: Courtney (Josh) Kasuboski, Dustin (Dominique) Rhodes, Taylor Rhodes and Lukas Mork; one sister: Sharon Amon; as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and dear friends.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, William and Louise Ziege; as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cambridge Senior Living in Hudson, WI, and the Davita Dialysis Clinic for the care and compassion shown to Carole and family throughout this journey.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at Mueller Funeral Home 904 E. Main St. Winneconne, WI on Saturday, June 1, 2024, with a visitation from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. and a service to be held at 2:30 p.m. Interment to follow in the Rushford Cemetery.
