Betty Joyce (Crawford) Meyer passed away December 27, 2023 at Aspirus Hospital in Stevens Point.
Betty was born September 3, 1925 on the family farm in the township of Plainfield to Charles and Maude (Trickie) Crawford. Betty was the youngest and last survivor of eight children. She attended West Plainfield Grade School and graduated from Plainfield High School in 1943. Betty married Louis “Bud” Meyer, April 23, 1949 at St. John’s Rectory at Heffron, WI and were married 50 years. They farmed in the town of Oasis their entire married life where they raised their 4 children. When Bud entered the Nursing Home the farm was sold and Betty and her daughter Ruth moved to Plainfield. Betty enjoyed her family and grandchildren, cooking, baking, bird watching, feeding the birds when she was able, reading, Word Search, listening to Polka and Country Music, watching the Green Bay Packers, and watching cooking and baking shows on TV. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, PCCW and a former member of St. Paul’s Ladies Mission Team.
Betty is survived by her 4 children, Nancy (Burrell) Johnson (Plainfield), Joseph “Joe” (Kathy) Meyer (Almond), Gerald “Gary” Meyer (Wautoma) and Ruth Ann Meyer (Plainfield). Grandchildren Tracey (Jeff) Firkus, Jennifer (Robert) Woyak, Austin (Natalie) Meyer, great granddaughter Cailin Firkus, step great grandchildren Megan and Joseph (Cassandrah) Woyak and step great-great grand‐daughters Oliver and Jasper Woyak; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, and brother: Flossie (Charles) Allison, Belva (Edward) Putskey, Raymond (Lillian) Crawford, Wilma (Alex) Lampe, Evelyn (Leland) George, Marjorie Crawford (died in infancy) and Elda (Walter) Kelley.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to: Aspirus Emergency Room Staff, Dr. Daniels; ICU Nurses, Dr. Okundae; and 5th Floor Nurses for the wonderful care Betty was given; Fr. Ed from St. Bronislava Parish.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield. Inurnment will be in parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
